Solar panel cleaning project carried out by the team using water fed pole equipment, lichen removal agent and access equipment.
A new client approached us at DL Clean Windows to undertake the cleaning of the solar panels on three blocks of flats they manage. Their engineer reporting the panels had lots of lichen and bird mess on them and that they would benefit from being cleaned.
A resident also mentioning the solar panels had not been cleaned since installation (at least 10 years!).
The DL Clean Windows team conducted a site survey and assessment, establishing options of scaffolding or use of a 20m cherry picker would be required in order to undertake and reach a satisfactory result.
Scaffolding adding much cost, the option for a cherry picker was selected.
Along with specialist and solar panel tested and approved lichen removal agent and water fed pole equipment, we were able to safely conduct the solar panel cleaning, removing most of the lichen.
An area just below the TV aerial was particularly covered in a thick layer of bird mess that we were unable to use the cherry picker to reach. Only being able to lightly scrub due to the height/length of water fed pole (57 foot+).
After thoughts =
The only way we could have achieved better would have been via scaffolding which was not cost effective for our client. I may just be being picky/ocd and expecting top, unachievable results! This was a difficult site, a number of considerations, with awkward access and solar panels that had not been cleaned for a long time. The team did an amazing job as always! Working together to complete, being adaptable and overcoming the challenges faced.
